1NA/E Straits Times Reflection Term 3 Wk 6

From the article "Government Acts to Curb Younger Smokers" (Main Section, pg 1 & 4)

1. What percentage of the population in Singapore is made up of smokers in 2004 and 2007? What is the difference in percentage?
Ans:
13.6 percent of the population in Singapore are made up of smokers in 2007 and 12.6 percent in 2004.

2. Do you think it is alright for youngsters below the age of 21 to smoke? State your reasons.
Ans:
I don’t think it is right for youngsters below the age of 21 to smoke. It’s a waste of money buying cigarettes as they cost more than $9, think of all the money wasted on smoking rather than buy things to eat or have what you want. Smoking is bad for health as it can cause cancer or trouble breathing.
