From the article "Government Acts to Curb Younger Smokers" (Main Section, pg 1 & 4)

1. What percentage of the population in Singapore is made up of smokers in 2004 and 2007? What is the difference in percentage?
Ans:
13.6 percent of the population in Singapore are made up of smokers in 2007 and 12.6 percent in 2004.

2. Do you think it is alright for youngsters below the age of 21 to smoke? State your reasons.
Ans:
I don’t think it is right for youngsters below the age of 21 to smoke. It’s a waste of money buying cigarettes as they cost more than $9, think of all the money wasted on smoking rather than buy things to eat or have what you want. Smoking is bad for health as it can cause cancer or trouble breathing.

Answer- Joshua Wan is the former NDP music director.
2. Do you think National Day songs and music videos help make Singaporeans feel more united? Give examples to support your answer.
Answer- I think National Day songs and music videos help make Singaporeans feel more united.

The song “Where I Belong” shows that Singapore is where all Singaporeans belong as one big family no matter where Singaporean is. The song “One United People” shows that Singapore is one nation and with many people from different races, religions that will live in harmony and stand together hand in hand as one united people.

Question 1
What do some students resort to when they have problems with their eyesight?
Ans: They would squint their eyes, asks the teacher to enlarge video clips or words that are to small and move to the front and sit.
Question 2
How would you feel if you could not see what is on the whiteboard / screen? Why?
Ans: I would feel tired or shocked if I could not see the whiteboard or screen.It would make me feel inattentive in class and I might write things down wrongly.

What has the team of geologist and researchers found underneath a stretch of land in some parts of Singapore? What can possibly be done with this finding?

Ans: The team of geologist found fossils, rocks that are stronger than concrete and the oldest rock in Singapore. They can be sent to the labs to be investigated and either uses them as storehouses or other things.

Question 2
Would you like to live in a city 50m below ground? In your opinion, what would be the advantages and disadvantages of such arrangement?

Ans: No, I would like to live in a city 50m below ground. Advantages are it have space that Singapore can buildings and use it to store things. Disadvantages are it might collapse when there is an earthquake and people might not be able to see the sun again.

Answer: The writer’s school prefects made a play-acting of history to make it come alive and about Kuwait, a country that the writer’s school is twinning with to learn other cultures in the Games.

Question 2
Singapore has won the Youth Olympics Games (YOG) 2010 bid. In your opinion, what are some of the things that Singapore students can do to contribute to the success of the YOG 2010?
Answer: Singapore students can write encouragement to the success of YOG 2010 and put up cheers or posters.

Answer: Mr Low’s books are fiction and his content, usually about romancemake up the grammar mistakes.

Would you buy and read books written by Mr Low Kay Hwa? Give reasons for your answer.
Answer: I would not buy and read books written by Mr Low Kay Hwa. His books have grammar mistakes and might confuse me when I read the books. I would read books like Harry Potter, as there are very little mistakes in grammar.

Ans:The aim of the Total Defence 25 campaign is to ask what each individual: What will you defend?

According to Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean, he “will defend Singapore – a home where my family, our families, and future generations can live in peace and realise their aspirations together.”
What will YOU defend? Why?
Ans:I will defend my favorite things like books and toys. These things I have cherish for as long as a year and I don’t want to leave them being destroyed or torn. Some are given as presents, some are bought and some are like treasures.

Why are teens willing to pay a huge sum of money for tuition?
Answer: A lot of Secondary students depend on tution as it helps them to cope up with studies,to have the tutors to answer their questions,urging them to study,too many subjects to study and maintain the standard in school.

Would you be willing to spend a big sum of money on tuition? Explain your answer.
Answer:No,I am not willing to spent a big sum of money on tution.Focusing on all subjects may tire me down,but if I focus on my weak subject, I might be able to spend less money on tution.

According to referee Steve Bennett, what is the main reason why soccer players asked to be booked?
Answer:Soccer players asked to be booked because they want to miss matches to have time with their family since all over Europe is a three week,four week gap.

Question 2
Do you think such soccer players (as in Q1) are being fair to their fans? Give reasons for your answer.
Answer:Such soccer players are not being fair to their fans.They should have asked their coach that they want to have time with their family rather than having yellow cards in the match,making their fans disapointed.
